Tethys Network General Assembly - Interview with Alaa El-Aswany

The General Assembly of the Tethys Network took place virtually on October 5, 2020.

After the postponement of the April 2020 General Assembly due to the COVID outbreak, it was particularly important for us to have an edition of the General Assembly in 2020 to celebrate the network's 20th anniversary.

At the end of the General Assembly of the Tethys network of Euro-Mediterranean universities, students of the Master's degree in European and International Studies, from the master's Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation cursus from Aix-Marseille University, interviewed the Egyptian writer Alaa El-Aswany. In live from New York, the author presented his essay "Le Syndrome de la dictature" published by Actes Sud in 2020.

Alaa El-Aswany won numerous literary prizes and is author of the famous novel "L'immeuble Yacoubian". He is a committed citizen and actor of the evolutions of his country in recent decades. During the interview, he provided the audience with narratives  his journey to his American exile, his commitment, his work as a writer in 2020, and his vision of literature as a mirror of society.
